Negative Stars if Possible 😠

I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Yellow Car Rental Company. On June 13th, 2024, our van broke down on the highway en route to Banff, leaving us stranded in dangerous conditions. Despite multiple calls for assistance, we received no help from Yellow Car Rentals.

We incurred significant costs due to the breakdown, including the van rental fee, extra gas, unexpected hotel accommodations, towing costs, and bus tickets back to Vancouver. They promised to reimburse us for the return rental and other expenses, but they didn’t stick to any of their promises.

I would not recommend Yellow Car Rental Company to anyone. Their lack of support in a time of need was unacceptable and made our trip a nightmare.

Very unprofessional, we rented a van, which broke in between highway, tried to connect to them to seek help, but had 0 help from them, and they are also not compensating us for the inconvenience. These people business licence should be snatched, 0 customer service. 1 star because cant give them 0 technically.

We rented a 15-seater van twice for our non-profit, Girl In The Wild, to bring struggling teenage girls to camp. The distance we are driving requires us to have two Class 4 licences drivers, which have and plan for. Unfortunately, we had to change up our August camp leadership team due to unforeseen circumstances and only had one Class 4 licensed driver. So we called to cancel and to book two other vehicles instead. The team at Yellow Car Rental refused to let us cancel, stating they have a No Cancellation Policy on 15-seater van rentals. (This is true, they do. However, it was also not articulated to us when we booked over the phone months prior). When we explained that having to pay for the van without actually using it would exceed our camp budget and potentially impact us getting these teens to camp and that we'd appreciate some leniency on the policy because (A) we're a non-profit doing some really incredible work in our community, and (B) because we intended to replace this rental with the rental of two other vehicles from Yellow Car that could be driven by regular Class 5 licensed drivers, they still refused. Zero leniency. Zero heart. Then when we asked to have an invoice sent to pay it so we could manage our finances and sort out a solution to get these girls to camp, they said they couldn't invoice until after the rental. We explained we needed it immediately and the service rep said "fine, I'll ask my manager". Then hung up. We called right back and she said "Fine, what's your credit card number." It was all very disappointing, very unkind, very unprofessional. Their decision is devastating to our program. And, honestly, just devastating from a human experience. Greed over good.

Horrible Experience.
I booked a 12 seater with them. The reservation said that the pickup location was YVR Airport. When we reached YVR airport, they told us that we had to go to their location because we were “local”. I still don’t understand the logic when the reservation clearly said that the pick up location is YVR Airport. I even said that if someone would bring the van to the YVR Airport, I would drop them back. Anyways, because we needed the vehicle, we went to their location and we were made to wait for an hour outside it was raining. We were soaking. The owner was belligerent and using profanities for calling him. They were not able to find the keys and would not cancel the reservation. After hour and a half of waiting in the rain and all soaked, the staff on site agreed to cancel the reservation without any charge but would not give it to us in writing. We had to record the conversation as the only source of evidence due to the fact that they refused to give the written confirmation of the cancellation. Then later, they did send a confirmation on cancellation. No compensation, no professionalism, no sorry and no thank you for being patient. Almost felt like a scam.

STAY AWAY!!!!!!

I booked with Yellow Car Rental months prior to my wedding as I had a big group coming in from abroad and staying in town for my wedding. Well, due to COVID-19, they all had to cancel and as such I had to request refunds from everyone (hotels, Airbnb, flights, etc) including this car rental company. I figured I would cancel with Yellow Car at least a month away from the wedding day to give them ample time to accommodate given the circumstances. It is now ONE MONTH PAST my first attempt at this request and I have heard nothing back. $1,500 dollars later and heard nothing back... Not even a "thank you for being patient" or "we're doing our best."

I spoke with Bob twice on the phone and twice he directed me to e-mail him and that he would "answer within 12 hours" (ha!). Sure. I said, I have heard this story before. We're now a few days past my last phone call attempt and about 10 e-mails to get a confirmation on refund and nothing. Needless to say I do not recommend. It is too bad that even through tough times people can be so greedy. I would give 0 stars if I could.

It look shady at first. The office is merged with an auto repair shop. However, look for Mr. Gill, he is very professional and patience when I was searching for a 12 passenger van. I went on location to check out their vehicles. He actually handed me the keys to look inside all the possible choice van I had in mind. One similarities across the board was all the van were new and clean. He gave me a quote for different van on the spot and I put a deposit down without hesitation. I went back two weeks later to pick up the vehicle and he actually met me up earlier than store opening hours. We went through minor paperwork and off I go. Low rate, excellent customer service and quality van. I would come back again.

This company is THE WORST and their cancellation is beyond ridiculous. A good friend of mine ordered a bus for her not for profit summer camp (she takes young girls into the wild to teach them about self love) and Yellow Car decided after a variety of calls/emails to charge not only the full amount for the original reservation (my friend was needing to reserve two smaller vans instead of one bigger bus and it would have made Yellow Car the same amount of profit) PLUS all the fees and taxes that they charge for actually driving the car (the fees don’t apply If the bus isn’t driven anywhere). I’m sorry, but that’s absolutely barbaric. I can’t even comprehend. And to do this to a not for profit? I smell greed in the air. Shame on you yellow car. Shame on you.

POOOOOOOOR customer service. Owner - Bob Brar - needs to train the female employees better with the policy. You can call and reserve but they FAIL to provide you with full information. They think that everything is about email and website, so there is no merit to a phone reservation.

The money you save with the daily care rental rate is far less than the QUALITY of service provided. Not only do they call - not write - to confirm the pick up on the day of, they then provide the vehicle half hour later than the time agreed upon.

They advise "it's an estimate" of charges - and it's stated as such - but when they charge you, it's exactly that even if you CALL and discuss the charges and they agree to not charge you.

The owner should look into recording the calls so he knows what information the employees are providing - or rather the lack there of.
