I recommend Valvoline in Argyle, TX for many of the routine service requirements of our vehicles. I have used their services for several years since moving to the area and have never had an experience less than 4 stars. The staff is professional, knowledgeable and friendly.

Let me preface this by saying that I don’t like to complain about businesses or retail workers. They are some of the most put upon public facing people around, so I’m really careful to check my attitude. After all, most of us know how hard it is to work a low paying job only to be to harassed by an entitled Karen-type.) Thus, I normally just smile, say thank you so much, and don’t fuss, even if there’s a real problem.)

However, as much as it pains me to complain, because of today’s poor customer service experience, I will not use this particular Valvoline again. This morning, I drove in. It wasn’t clear whether we should park or walk over and get their attention to get service, so I did all of the above. At first, I pulled by the bay doors and patiently waited for several minutes. No dice. No acknowledgment whatsoever. So, I parked and walked inside the Valvoline storefront, but there was no one there. Then I walked over to the garage and just outside it, asked, “should I park and wait for service?” I got a slight head nod in return. So I parked and waited for an hour. No Interaction the whole time. And for most of that time, only one bay was open while there were five or six guys. Maybe they were training someone, but there was a lot of just standing around and joking with each other while one or two guys worked on a car. (Honestly, I should’ve just left by this point.) But then, I see that the bay is open and that it’s finally my turn, but then they wave this dude-bro in a Bronco to pull into the garage. A guy who got there twenty minutes after I first arrived. So when I (very politely) approached and asked the manager why they skipped me, the manager just put on this huge grin, shrugged, and said that the guy was next “on the board” which means he is next, and that I would go after him. Now, this alone wasnt that bad. People make mistakes, right? But I cannot tell you patronizing and off putting that wide, mocking grin was. Pretty certain he was talking down to me because I’m just a little old woman. So then I started to go back to my car and I’m thinking I’ll just cut my losses and go somewhere else when the manager smiles again and says I’m next. So I pulled in and they gave the car an oil change. There was a constant stream of sarcastic bickering among the technicians in the shop, but no complaints on the work, so I just sat there quietly while they fussed and cussed at each other. But then the manager just had to get in one last patronizing dig before I left. “See?” He grinned, after ringing me up. “You and the other guy even finished at the exact same time..” I started to reply with, “I don’t normally complain, but—“ but he cut with me off. “Other than that, ma’am, you’re fine.” As though he’d graciously forgiven me.

Valvoline, if your goal is to make customers feel stupid, insignificant, and small, you sure did a good job today in Argyle.

I really want to change this review, but sadly, the last two times I've come to this location, I couldn't get done what was needed. Last time it was an oil change for my F-150 (the most common truck in the US) because they were out of oil filters. I could go get one and bring it to them - but that's insane. O'Rielly's is down the street and delivers to these places. Come on. They couldn't get that done? Nope. I got turned away and went to their competition down the street. Today I needed a car inspection. I pulled in, waited for about 10 minutes, and finally noticed a sign in front of the bay doors (not very visible to incoming customers) that they did not have an inspector on duty. Perfect. A waste of time again and again, I can't get done what I need. So I left and again, went to their competition down the street. It's sad. Because in the past I've gotten excellent service and that's why I keep coming back. But I guess not anymore. I can't get taken care of any longer so I'll go elsewhere. I hope they can fix this as I would like to come back.

First time probably last time. The attendant was nice. They checked my engine air filter and left the compartment open. I discovered that at home after the loud noisy drive home. They charged $100 for full synthetic which is really high and then gave me a sticker saying to return after 3k which should be 5k.
