The following two paragraphs are straight from this company's website in the ABOUT section. Just the words you want to hear when you are putting together 10s of thousands of hard earned dollars to invest in your greatest asset: your home.

"Self-explanatory. We say what we mean, mean what we say, and most importantly, deliver what we promise. We are grateful for the opportunity to work for you and we treat your project as our own."

I've put off writing a review for this company in hopes that they would actually live out their mission statement in regards to the last job they did for us. Pathetically, I've been waiting a long time.

I'm going to keep this review specific. We hired this company to enclose a screened in porch. As far as renovations go, pretty easy job. The biggest investment was a very large double glass door with glass side panels on either side. Each panel of glass was supposed to have the internal shade components that go up and down to control light. We waited a long time for this door.

They brought the door and installed it and when I saw it, I asked where the internal shades were. They KNOWINGLY installed this door and framed it in without the internal shades. Of course, they didn't want to take it out so they assured us that the door company would come on site and install the shades.

The shades were installed, but not long after one of the panels wouldn't go up and down correctly. They sent someone out to fix it and in doing so they opened up the glass encasement allowing the gas out and now we have lines and messed up glass on this huge expensive door that no one will take responsibility for at all. The wow factor of the room looks like crap and no one will take responsiblity.

And further with the same door on the outside, we noticed right away that the outside "paint" looked really bad and moldy and wouldn't clean up especially for being so new. Finally, realized that the door was never primed and painted at all. How absolutely pathetic workmanship.

They don't answer the phone. They give excuses. They try and pass the buck. Ghosts in the wind. Classic meme for pathetic contractor behavior. And we are now stuck holding the bag and frankly, have NO IDEA how to get this door resolved. It has a warranty apparently, but we can't even get the information on it.

Classic example of why you should hang on to your money and take all the pretty words on the website with a GIGANTIC grain of salt. They haven't displayed integrity and I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate this treatment if it was their own project and home. Trust requires action and proof.

I would NOT recommend handing your trust and money to this company.

Spearfish: reach out to us and make our situation right. It's not a good look.

I can provide more reasons /examples why you should avoid this company lest you think this is a one off.

We were new to the area and hired Spearfish Construction to lay our new floor and to install a wood burning fireplace.
Floor was installed but flaws are now showing in several places. They attempted to remedy once but to no avail. When it came time to do the fireplace they informed us they weren’t taking on more work. We emailed/texted the owner Matt, but received no response.
In retrospect price was extremely high, they overcharged for materials, had surplus boxes of materials left over with no refund issued.
Would strongly suggest you avoid doing business with this company.

I had warranty under my home from this company. When I needed assistance the owner Matt completed cut me off. Blocked my number and doesn’t respond to my texts or calls. Don’t recommend giving these people any business.

I cannot attest to the quality of the work because they have not shown up at the job. Paid half in advance. I wish they would at least communicate a schedule. Update: still never showed, never called back, never refunded money.

Experience Craftsman that enjoy what they do. They did a great job on my house and you can really tell how much pride this company puts in there work.
