Was contacted by a John Deane after he had seen my CV on another recruitment site. I was in search of a part-time role in care. He explained that a local council had a part-time role consisting of 5 x 5 hour shifts per week. I explained that I was only interested in a shift pattern over 3 days' a week. A couple of weeks later he phoned again saying that the employer was still looking to fill the vacancy. I reitterated that I wasn't interested in working five days a week, but was told that the council were willing "to be flexible for the right person" and that the rate of pay was also "negotiable". I attended for an interview, the first thing that the recruiter said was that she wanted to go through their rota system as it was "fixed in stone" and that there was no point in continuing if I was unwilling to work the set hours, which turned out to be 5 x 5 hour shifts. Neither was the pay negoitable.
I explained what I had been told by John Deane, the lady responded by saying that she thought that he was probably hoping that I would end up taking the job so he would receive a commission.
I wasted an afternoon and travelling expenses. Clearly the council recruiter also had her time wasted. As such I would not recommend this company from either perspective-either as a company looking for staff or from someone seeking employment.
Quite what this individual hoped to achieve with his blatant dishonesty is beyond me. If it was annoying those on both sides of the equation he certainly succeeded.
