It’s been 2 hours and I’m still waiting to get a rental car. At first, the office was empty for almost 30 minutes and no one picked up the phone. The two guys came back saying sorry, they were up on the 7th floor prepping cars. They gave me a rental car full of crackers, peanuts, food residue, and paper parking tickets. I asked to get a different car that was cleaned. The man insisted me the car was “brand new” until I showed them the pictures i had taken. They gave me a different car, this time with mud smeared all over the seats and dashboard. I again asked for a clean car and they again gave me a hard time about it. I persisted in asking for a clean vehicle and asked them to accompany me to the 7th floor to find one. They did this and we found a clean car. On the way back to the office the man saying “are you sure this one is clean enough for you? You’re sure this time We cannot keep swapping cars for you.” I told him it was not unreasonable for me to ask for a clean vehicle and he gave me a dirty look. I went back upstairs to drive the car away and it ended up having a flat tire (30 psi dropped to 19 psi as soon as I moved from the parking space). I said I can just take the first car if they could please just quickly vacuum up the crackers and peanuts. The man said it’ll take about 10 minutes and it has been 45 and I’m still waiting.

Edited to 1 star. I waited for 20 min for a receipt and finally asked them to email it to me. They did not, and I was charged more than double the initial estimate. I brought the car back clean, undamaged, and with a full gas tank, so I don’t know of any reason additional charges would have applied.

I almost didn’t bother leaving a review because, honestly, what’s one more drop in the ocean of negative feedback? But my experience was so bad—and the staff so wildly incompetent—that even one star is too many.

To save you the trouble of scrolling through all the other bad reviews: they’re true. This location should strictly be a drop-off spot because the employee I dealt with shouldn’t be trusted to run a lemonade stand, let alone rent out $20K+ vehicles. He showed up 30 minutes late, acted unprofessionally, tried to upcharge me because the vehicle I reserved wasn’t available, and then botched my reservation so badly that I was overcharged $500. I had to call Hertz myself to fix the mess.

Long story short: do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else.

I am extremely disappointed, and frankly outraged, with Hertz's service this time. I made a reservation for a rental car several months in advance, believing that planning ahead would ensure a smooth pickup experience. However, what actually happened was beyond unacceptable.

On the day of the pickup, just 30 minutes before I was scheduled to get the car, my reservation was canceled without any reason. What’s worse is that Hertz did not notify me in any way—no email, no call, no message. I only found out when I arrived at the location, where the staff coldly informed me that my reservation had been canceled. They offered no explanation, no alternative solutions, and were completely unhelpful and dismissive.

Frustrated, I contacted customer service and, after a lengthy wait, managed to rebook another car. I thought the issue would finally be resolved, but what happened next was even more infuriating. When I returned to speak with the staff, they claimed, again, that they couldn’t provide me with a car because of “insufficient inventory.” I explained multiple times that I was traveling with 3 large suitcases, a car seat, and a 10-month-old baby, but they showed zero empathy and simply told me to “try another location.”

As a result, I was left stranded at the location for over two hours with my family and all of our luggage, without any assistance or resolution. Imagine how frustrating and exhausting it is to deal with this situation while taking care of a baby! Hertz’s staff were not only unprofessional but also completely indifferent, making no effort to help or offer solutions.

This experience has utterly destroyed my trust in Hertz. Making a reservation in advance was supposed to bring peace of mind, but instead, it brought unnecessary stress and inconvenience. For a global car rental company, Hertz has failed to deliver even the most basic level of customer service or problem-solving.

Reserved a minivan more than a month in advance and when we showed up we were told there were no minivans left. We told them we have 7 luggages and 7 people, and in consolation they offered us a a 6-seater SUV instead telling us it was a 7-seater. When we pressed to see why there were no minivans even though we had reserved in advance they had no answer for us. This was entirely unnecessary and could have been avoided if Hertz San Pedro actually cared about their customers in the first place. Highly do NOT recommend Hertz.

EDIT: HERTZ obviously doesnt care about how poorly managed this place is, just read the generic responses they give everyone. This isnt an invenory issue, its a management and training issue! Words cannot express just how inept and rude these people are. They canceled our reservation without notice or confirmation on their end. 3 other ppl were across the street at enterprise with the same story as myself. I was turned away after paying and showing them my confirmation (they didn't care at all). I paid for a taxi to get there and had to call to get a refund because they still had me confirmed yet the guy there told us he canceled us because they didn't have enough cars?! How is this place still in business, I will definitely never use Hertz ever again, and the (only) guy working there after a cruise let out down the street should definitely be fired if Hertz wants to avoid law suits and actually make money. I literally saw half a dozen people walk out angry while waiting for my enterprise which I was lucky to find across the street. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I reserved a car a couple of days in advance and received confirmation. When I showed up to get the vehicle, I was told they had no cars left. I received no notice of this and had taken an Uber to the hertz office. What’s the point of having a reservation? This happened to several people waiting for the cars they reserved. An employee showed everyone a list of names and told them if they weren’t on the list they do not have a car, and they should have reserved a week ago. Also if you purchased insurance when you made your reservation, you will still be billed for that because it is separate. You must call Allianz and cancel it yourself. I almost paid $100 for insurance for a car I never used.

Returning the car to this office is the most horrible experience I ever have with a rental car company. They asked me to drop off the car at the level 7 of the garage next door, the old and dirty elevator has no power so I have to walk down to the main floor, the main gate was closed and inside the garage has no light and dark, it took me 10 minutes to walk around in the dark to find the exist door.
When I return the key to office, two guys in the office just sitting there talking.
I am wondering what kind of customer services is this?
