Really disappointing service. The vehicle we received (Luton with tail lift) was provided with no instructions - we asked the staff member at the time and was simply told "it was straight forward".

Defective tail lift as one side jammed when lowered, which made us question if this was the reason for not being shown how to operate it. We did not find out that the tail lift was defective until we had reached our destination and it was disappointing that the vehicle was clearly not checked properly before hire.

The door mirror indicator lens was hit while the vehicle was parked. The lens only was damaged and a replacement is less than £10. The staff member at the depot said it is "a 20 minute job" to repair.

We took out additional insurance to cover eventualities like this.

The additional insurance DID NOT cover this.

We were charged £250 for a £12, "20 Minute" job. We have complained to the depot but, after a number of weeks, no resolution or priority to investigate the issue.

Very disappointing and would not recommend this depot or the additional insurance offered at pickup.

The Enterprise car had a flat tire. This should have taken at most an hour to fix. It ruined 2 days of our vacation.

Three issues with vehicle: 1 - The car had a damaged tire sidewall when we rented it (picture attached - damage to tire between two scratches on wheel); 2 - no spare tire was provided with the car; and 3 - the tire size was not standard and not in stock at any tire repair center.

Four issues with the service: 1. No one answered the phone for over an hour when we called Enterprise for help with the flat tire. 2. Once Enterprise answered they insisted we deal with the vehicle manufacturer since it was under warranty. 3 - The manufacturer did not answer the phone, leaving us stranded for hours. 4. Enterprise wants us to pay for the flat tire.

Excellent customer service, smiley and very helpful. I only needed a car to get around York. I had a small Kia which was perfect for me. Thorough information given about the car/excess etc by Luke and asked if I needed to know anything else. Checked in with a young lady who was brilliant too. Will definitely be going back when I am visiting again.

The people at the rental location were extremely friendly and extraordinarily helpful. I realized on arriving that I had just lost my phone, in the case that also contained my license and credit cards. Your staff did everything imaginable to help me recover the phone, including driving me back to the train station where I'd last used it. In luck, I got it back. Throughout the process, everyone was compassionate and understanding. When returning the car, we got a friendly welcome, and congenial conversation with the area manager and office manager, who again offered to drive us to the station where we were headed.

I rented a car with a manual transmission at the Enterprise York City Centre branch. After 10 minutes of driving and less than 1.5 miles the engine began smoking. Enterprise Roadside Service asked me to call Nissan, as the car was still under warranty. I found that ridiculous, but as they were unable to connect me to the City Centre branch, I walked there on foot in 20 minutes. The branch staff were accommodating, and a member of the staff drove me in a replacement car, also with a manual transmission, back to the original car so I could pick up my family. Later that day I received an email from the branch, however, advising me that I had broken the clutch. The implication was that I didn’t know how to drive a manual transmission. I responded that I had successfully driven 250 miles that afternoon without incident.

This should have been the end of it, but upon dropping the replacement car off at Heathrow in good condition after an additional 300 miles, I began receiving quite nasty letters from the Enterprise Damage Recovery Unit that they had charged $2500 on my credit card to cover the expense of repairing the clutch on the original rental. I had to ask my bank to block the charge and I had numerous unpleasant interactions with the Damage Recovery Unit over a two month period before Enterprise finally sent me the mechanic’s damage report. Even their own mechanic explicitly stated that the clutch could very well have been damaged before I picked it up, and indeed, that it was unlikely that it could have been damaged by me to that extent in just 1.5 miles of driving. I called the Damage Recover Unit and pointed this out to them. They sheepishly promised to look into it. Without any acknowledgement that they had been in the wrong, Enterprise credited my card for the full $2500 a few weeks later. I have never written a bad review, but I feel this treatment was so egregious that I should do so for the benefit of anyone else thinking of renting from Enterprise.

Great experience start to finish. Everything as advertised. Newer car, fun to drive. Open on Sunday (when we needed to drop car.) We felt well taken care of by agents at pick up and drop off.

My wife and I travelled to York in September 2024 and needed a rental car to drive to Bamburgh and back. This was to be an epic trip that we spent many months planning. I had booked a small SUV online well in advance. However, in my excitement to plan our trip, I neglected one small detail.

Upon arrival at the York Central Enterprise dealership, I was informed I had booked a manual transmission vehicle. I (rather shamefully) have never learned to drive a manual, and was not about to learn on the narrow North York Moors country lanes. Turns out that the vast majority of vehicles rented at Enterprise were manual, that automatic vehicles were something of a rarity.

We were stuck. We had hotels booked and no way to get to them. The team at Enterprise were beyond helpful in trying to get us sorted. They had a couple of other larger commercial vehicles available that were automatic (not ideal), but no other locations in the area had anything close to what we needed.

We were there for almost an hour as the team tried to find a solution, when a rental vehicle was returned 2 days early. The guys cleaned and prepped it quickly and we were on our way. We were lucky, and relieved. And the vehicle, a Volvo XC90, was our trusted carriage for our epic trip.

June 18 2024: We returned our hire cars for two families a few days ago, we had multiple bags and couldn't figure out how drop everyone off at York Train Station. Katie helped us by loading us all in to a mini bus and expeditiously getting us to the station. She totally saved us, thank you! The cars were great too. Enterprise always has top notch service.
