We recently dealt with Cars Canada and both my cousin and I bought 2 vehicles from here.
We dealt with Shane, Michael and Aiden. They are very honest, professional. They didn't surecoat the process and told us about warranty protection and also financing options available without extra charge from this dealership. We both received our vehicles in amazing condition.

We bought a 2017 Chevey Cruze from Cars Canada.
We took it to Master mechanic across from the from the dealership to check it for the safety. It was %100 safety approved and the dealership went above the usual safety standard. We are very happy about our purchase. We ask them about some reviews about safety issues that was mentioned from other people. The response from dealership was that the dealership has no power to influence the mechanic shop and we believed it.
Thank you Cars Canada we will be coming back this summer to speak with Shane to get an SUV for my mother in law.

Bought a 2014 base model Subaru Impreza here in June 2023 for 13k. As of March 2025 the car is totaled from rusting out, I can't get it safetied because the damage is structural and the repairs would be exceeding expensive. Buying experience was fine, but I can't give them more than 1 star as I was sold a complete lemon of a car that didn't last me 2 years for 13 grand.

I purchased my Subaru Impreza from Cars Canada in around November 2024. Michael provided good customer service and I received my car in few days in apparently good condition. However, after 2 months the steering became very tight and I ended taking my cat to Subaru Dealer in Whitby. The repair bill came to $3200.
I wonder if Cars Canada was aware of this defect prior to selling the car to me.

Michael provided me with car key which was was not original Subaru key fob but after market product. He also provided the original fob which did not function. Michael told me it needs a new battery. I later found out from Subaru dealer that the fob provided needs to be replaced and it was not matter of just replacing the battery which would have cost around $20. New fob would cost me $500. More over I failed to find anyone who could replace the battery of the after market fob provided with the car at time of purchase.
I talked to Michael about this issue and he told me in email that they can replace the fob if I went to Barie. I told him I live in Oshawa and can not travel to Barie just to pickup a fob.
I called Michael approximately 10 times to talk about alternate options but the phone goes dead after 4 rings. Before I purchased my Subaru, Michael picked up my call within 2 to 3 rings. I have not received any reply to my emails either. I sent numerous text Messages to Michael regarding the issue of replacement fob but he failed to respond. Before I purchased the car, he responded to my text within minutes. I warned him of my intent to provide a poor review but still no response.
I would not recommend CARS CANADA TO anyone ever. Read all the reviews carefully, especially the bad reviews before you buy your car from CARS CANADA.
SAVE YOUR SELF THE PAIN OF POOR CAR WHICH MAY COST YOU IN REPAIR BEYOND WHAT IS NORMAL AND REASONABLE.
IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM AFTER PURCHASING YOUR CAR, DO NOT EXPECT ANY POSITIVE RESPONSE IF IT IS GOING TO COST THE DEALER TO MAKE YOU HAPPY.
BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT BUY YOUR USED CAR FROM CARS CANADA.

sold a vehicle that should have never passed Saftey. Once you drive off their lot it’s your problem unless you want them to take to a mechanic they know to tell you nothing is wrong. I could go on but, what’s don’t is done word of mouth is everything and this is my opinion.

My Wife purchased a 2011 Volkswagen Tiquan from Cars Canada, Nazar was exceptional...he went above and beyond to make sure I was totally satisfied throughout the whole buying process (and I should note that I am every car dealerships worst nightmare as far as picking things apart) Nazar was patient, no pressure and I felt he was a stand up guy, and a shout out to Shane he was professional and friendly, I felt these guys have customer service in mind, also I did a ton of research and I felt very good. Purchasing the 24 month Lubrico Warranty, I would definitely consider them for MY next used vehicle 😀 😄

WARNING: SAFETY CONCERNS AND INCONSISTNT PRACTICES AT CARS CANADA

I recently purchased a 2006 Toyota Sienna from Cars Canada, and my experience has been nothing short of disappointing. The vehicle was sold as "safety certified," but within a week, I discovered significant safety issues, including rotten strut mounts, faulty brakes, and a seized parking brake. A licensed mechanic confirmed these defects should have failed any legitimate safety inspection. These problems ended up costing me almost $5,000 in repairs and other losses.

When I reached out to Cars Canada, they refused to reimburse me, claiming I should have brought the vehicle back to them for repairs. However, when I emailed the dealership, I was informed my issue was not covered under their warranty. To make matters worse, the salesperson, Shane, was unavailable for 10 days, leaving me with no immediate resolution. Expecting customers to return unsafe vehicles to them while denying coverage under warranty is not only frustrating but also irresponsible.

What’s even more troubling is the pattern I’ve noticed after reading other reviews here. Many negative reviews highlight similar issues—fraudulent safety certifications, vehicles with major defects, and poor customer service—yet positive reviews often repeat the same names (like Shane and Nazar) and generic phrases like “great service” or “very helpful,” without much detail. This raises concerns about the authenticity of these glowing reviews, especially when so many customers report the opposite experience.

If you’ve had a similar issue with Cars Canada, I encourage you to contact me through my Google Profile. Together, we may be able to file a group complaint with OMVIC or explore other legal actions to hold this dealership accountable. Consumers deserve transparency and safety when purchasing a vehicle, and no one should endure the stress and financial losses that I’ve experienced.

Please think twice before buying from Cars Canada, and if you do, insist on a third-party inspection before signing anything. Don’t take their certification at face value—it could save you a lot of time, money, and frustration.
