Picked up from Hobby airport location. No problems. Van was clean. Ran great. Will rent with AVR again.

Note: the front seat belts are small in the GMC passenger vans. If you are a bigger person, you may want to bring a seatbelt extender. And the seat belts constantly lock and you have to unbuckle and let it retract back in and rebuckle if you lean forward while driving. NO FAULT OF AVR, JUST NEW GMC VAN CHARACTERISTIC. Never experienced this with previous van models.

They charged us a 2 day rental and they were unwilling to correct it to the original day.
A/C was not working properly for traveling senior citizens
The vehicle was not clean and had a lot of damage
Windshield reservoir was not functioning or not filled
Unable to contact a live person
I will never use or refer this service again

A pity there is no ZERO star rating! Worse experience ever. Rented a van several months in advance for them to cancel a few days before pick up because they had “no availability”. The basics of business are being insulted here. If you propose a service, you have to deliver. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THIS UNRELIABLE COMPANY!

DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY! We had a school trip planned and we're renting a van from AVR to be picked up on a Saturday morning. We called to confirm and spoke with corporate on Friday the day before to ensure everything was good to go. They assured us it was, our credit card was charged. Saturday morning at 8:14 an email was sent saying that our reservation has been cancelled. A call to corporate and they inform us that they had no vans available. Then, a man yells at me on the phone saying we have to have a signed contract to get a van. We were never informed of that and a contract was never sent to us. This company is shady, they yell at their customers, and they don't follow through with their end of the commitment. Avoid this company. We found much better customer service with Capps rentals and JJ Van rentals jj-rentals.com, whom we ultimately rented from.

Recently rented a van from AVR Van Rentals and was thoroughly disappointed with the entire experience. What was initially supposed to be a budget-friendly rental turned out to be nearly double the cost due to numerous hidden charges. It’s frustrating to be hit with unexpected fees that weren’t clearly communicated at the time of booking.

The condition of the vehicle was another major letdown. The van was dirty both inside and out, with torn seats and a pervasive bad smell that made the ride quite unpleasant. It’s clear that the vehicle had not been properly cleaned or maintained before being handed over to us.

Overall, I would not recommend AVR Van Rentals. The combination of hidden charges and poor vehicle condition made for an extremely unsatisfactory experience. I hope they take these issues seriously and make necessary improvements for future customers.

I had reserved and pay in full for my reservation in February. One day before my pick up date at 6pm they called to cancelled my reservation due to over booking . Since March I been trying to get my refund and they just give me the run arounds. I called what seem to be corporate, customer service , manager , multiple calls , text and emails and still nothing. No one seem to know nothing and the best line is “we been having technical problems , we will issue a check “ still waiting for my refund. I highly don’t suggest this company at all.

Stay away from them. As many have already pointed below, this company definitely appears to be a fraud.
We rented a van from Austin for 10 days. We were given a crappy van with torn up seats, brakes not functioning well, AC barely working.
Right after the pickup on a Friday afternoon, we tried calling them desperately within an hour of pickup. After we realised all the problems. The calls for the next 4 days kept going to their Voice Mail. There was no Roadside Assistance or Accident Assistance Number.
We were to drive out of town and had to cancel and change all our plans. It was only on the 5th day that their lines started working again. And the van was then changed.
I’m surprised if they even do an inspection of the van before renting out. Compromising on safety is not acceptable.
Avoid them if you want to avoid stress and want a safer vehicle.

I ordered a van from this company for a family trip for 4 days in March and I paid in full. The price was reasonable so I thought I was all set. I called 2 days prior to my trip to see the type of vehicle they will provide , but the customer service said we don’t know until the time of pick up. The night before my pickup day I happened to see an email saying they tried to reach me multiple times (of course not even a single call or voicemail from the company) and they are canceling my reservation due to unavailability of the vehicle. The last minute cancellation caused so much trouble because we had a family trip and I had to find another van and paid way more. The AVR has only 8-12 customers service on the weekends. I called multiple times since the cancellation to get my refund and until today I am receiving the same answer “it’s in the refund list”. This is terrible and very unhappy with the service. Hoping to at least get the money back.
