DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY EVER. 2 weeks before our trip we received a text saying that both of our reservations have been canceled due to the location being temporarily closed. We received the texts on September 22nd and have yet to see our refund for the 2 van rentals. I have made several calls and many chats and we haven't gotten any answers from them regarding the status of our refund. THEY ARE CROOKS! Stay away from them.

Awful experience! Do not rent from this company. On the day of pickup, we spent 1.5 hours at the pickup location with zero information on how to get the van. After multiple phone calls with customer service (Rachel wont answer the phone) they were finally able to get ahold of Rachel (account manager) to send us the pick up instructions. We then get in the van and the AC did not work. We reached back out to Rachel and she sent us the owners manual as if we simply didn’t know how to turn on the AC. We spent the weekend with no AC and no refund or option to trade out the van or have someone come fix it. The entire experience from start to finish was awful. Do not rent from this company!!!

Can confirm, this place is a scam. I went to rent a van from them before I read any reviews. After seeing the reviews, I tried contacting them during normal business hours to cancel, that didn't workout as they didn't pickup the phone.

I contacted them on a Sunday (8 days before renting) and was able to get in touch with what seemed like a third party company handling their calls on the weekend. They were ultimately helpful, BUT -

At first they directed me to try and cancel through the website. The 'cancel' button was non-functional, when I let them know that they went to enter a ticket into the system. When they looked up my account the email address that was associated with it was incorrect (seemed like a guid..). This was a pretty lucky catch b/c if we hadn't done that I wouldn't have had a paper trail for my credit card company to fight the fradulent transactions. There were 3 - they had tried to rente me 2 vans and there was another mystery charge for about $285. All in they hit my card for > 1000 dollars.

On the morning of the day of rental, I got the following message from them saying:

This van is not available, we will be emailing you with the new van information. Please keep a look out for the updated email.
**

Yipes, it's wild that the first search result for 'van rental near me' is a full-on scam.

My experience with Airport Van Rental in Austin was great. The contactless rental process was easy and hassle-free. The location was accessible, and the instructions provided were clear and straightforward. Kudos to Jonah for being my point of contact and ensuring a seamless experience.

Reserved a 15 person cargo van 30 days before needing it and was charged in full at the time of reservation. Didn't look at the reviews.

2 days before the rental, I get an email saying "Your reservation was successfully cancelled".

I called in 3x to get a busy signal, email to get no response, and end up having to dispute the charge with my credit card company while trying to find a replacement vehicle during a major event in the city. All vehicles are sold out.

AVR is either purely a scam or exists to make our lives more difficult. Avoid.

Short Story: Canceled a week before the trip and NEVER REFUNDED US.

A WEEK before our trip to Austin, Texas, Airport Van Rental CANCELED OUR VAN that WE HAD PREPAID. 2 weeks after they canceled, they still hadn't refunded the charge.

When I called, I was told they'd call back and they never did. Later, I called back and was on hold for 40 minutes. The next day, I called back and was directed to someone who was not the manager. This person refused to transfer me to the manager.

They did not try to secure another van. They did not move a van from another location. They did not connect us with another rental agency. They did *absolutely nothing* to try to fix things.

We have 9 people and all the airport cars have been sold out in Austin for 2 MONTHS. There's simply not other airport options. I have no idea how our trip will continue given how incompetent they are.

Not the easiest spot to get to and the rental process is a bit unconventional (using a lockbox and taking before and after photos in order to check the van out and back in), but ultimately I had a fine experience. It was $300 cheaper than any other option and was much closer to the airport. I had no issues with cancellation like others and received very clear instructions from the AVR team along the way

Worst customer services ever. I made a reservation from March back in January 2024 and i got call 1 day before i was to pick up van. AVR is telling me that they are sorry but they have to cancel my rental because they made a mistake and over booked there vehicles. One day, Its all i get, and 'oh we are so sorry". They dint care that i would be stranded with kids and no other way to rent. Know i have to wait till funds are back on account and was told it could take a couple of day. WORTS EXPERIENCE ! ! !
