Budget Car Rental - El Paso, Texas

This is the most unprofessional car rental agency I’ve ever come across. Twice in the last 6 months has it taken 45min - 2 hours to receive a car. This last time they told me it was because the car was SO TRASHED it took them forever to clean it. That’s not even the worst part. I gassed up right down the street and returned it - still charged for a few gallons of gas. STILL NOT DONE - 4 days later on thanksgiving day I get a $450 charge for the cars cleaning fee stating I left it in terrible shape. Just completely not true. These people have lost any bit of customer service they ever had. I’m going to dispute the charge because it’s absolutely false. You guys should be ashamed of the way you handle business.

Edit: Within 30 minutes the customer service agent recognized these as false claims made by the local employees and reversed it. Thankfully somebody made it right.

Ironic that Budget asks you to give them your flight information so that they can know if your flight is delayed. We prepaid a reservation and gave them our flight info. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed by 40 minutes. We landed at 10:40 pm instead of 10 pm. We got to the Budget counter at 11 pm only to find no one there. I called the main number and was told that I would have to wait until the morning to get the rental car that I paid for. Budget left my wife and I stranded in the airport with no solution other than to wait until the morning. Very poor service not only at the airport but from the 800 number as well. Budget knew they had a customer who had already paid for a vehicle and was incoming on a delayed flight yet they still closed and left us stranded. Horrible way to do business.

Check out team at El Paso airport was absolutely terrible slow and unprofessional. Car was unsafe condition when delivered with no washer fluid, rear passenger wheel at low pressure of 20. When brought back the next day was told that there was no issue. Had issues all week and had to continue to inflate tire to proper psi due to slow leak. Car was checked out to me dirty and unclean with windshield in unsafe manner with filth and dirt on it.

We pre-booked our truck because we flew into El Paso for the Democratic Convention; however, when we arrived, the vehicle was not ready. The service representatives told us that the truck was being detailed and to expect a 10 - 15 minute wait. We waited over 30 minutes in 100-degree weather for the truck, and there was nowhere to sit. After we were fully drenched in sweat, our truck arrived filthy.

Rented through United vacations. Website says car on site. Not correct. You have to deal with Avis lazy counter agents. Ended up renting from a much better company. Renter beware this is a subpar rental company.

Worse experience ever with renting a car. If customer service employees hate their jobs that much they should find a new one. Rented a truck online when we went to go pick it up the truck was disgusting and the wipers did not work. We called and were told to bring it back to exchange for another truck. The person working seemed so bothered to have to provide another truck. The second truck was not cleaned, had no washer fluid, we had to put air in the tires, it needed an oil change. When we returned the truck we tried to tell them about the tires, washer fluid, and oil change light and he straight up ignored us. They lack customer service skills. People rent cars to drive across the states and I will never rent from budget again with their unsafe vehicles.

Arrived at 11:00 pm with a confirmed reservation only to find there were no cars available. The woman working the desk was incredibly rude about it yelling at everyone that there were no cars and to leave her alone. How on earth do you have no cars at an airport And if you do run out of cars how do you not have some sort of process in place for helping those youve screwed over.

There was a sign that said “Check in online to skip the counter” so I checked in online to avoid the counter. After checking in, the website told me they didn’t have my type of car available but would assign one ASAP.

Walked to the garage to wait for assignment, spoke with a person in the garage who said assignment can only be done at the counter.

Walked back to the counter, there was a much longer line & it took 30 minutes to get to the desk and be assigned a car.

All in all, spent nearly an hour getting a rental car with a reservation already in hand. Not cool!
