We’re local but booked a hire car for 10 days whilst ours was in for repairs. We were happy with the car, booking process and service. Easily booked online 2 days before for a reasonable price (blue light card discount was a bonus) and pick up was straight forward.

After reading some reviews we were dubious of being charged for any existing damage upon return, so took extensive photos & video upon collection as the car we we given (Corsa) had a number of scratches and dents, as well as a small chip in the windscreen. This didn’t really bother us as we didn’t need anything fancy. These were pointed out and noted during the walk around. There is a template to indicate what damage is accepted as general wear and tear; as long as the scratch isn’t deeper than surface level.

We were offered ‘gap’ insurance to protect against the £1500-2000 excess (!) in the event of an accident at £25 per day, but we arranged our own for around £40 for the full 10 days. If you’re doing this make sure you take it out before you collect the car, as that seemed to be a stipulation on most quotes.

Would happily use this branch again in future!

I have been let down badly by this Enterprise branch on 2 separate occasions when reserving SUV's. On the first occasion in Dec 2023 the car was not available at the selected pick up time and an hour delay was expected. Also the car offered was not a 4x4 as requested by telephone. I had to leave empty handed and take my own car to avoid being late for an appointment.

The second more recent problem was in June 2024 where a large SUV was required at 9AM. A smaller SUV was offered without discount. It was explained the day prior by telephone that a large luggage capacity was needed yet a VolvoXC60 was passed off as being an Volvo XC90, which is not the same category. When rejected, attempts to source the correct class of car resulted in one being offered 3 hours after original pick up. Unfortunately that car was hired out in Glasgow before it could be picked up!! Another SUV was offered , some 7 hours after original pick up time. I gave up and took my own car, as travel plans could not be delayed further. Really disappointed especially having been a gold member at the time. I will go back to using the Stirling Branch where no such issues have ever happened.

I booked an automatic SUV but, after waiting half an hour, was told the only one available had a problem and so they couldn't offer it to me. Instead, I was offered a manual people carrier (Sharan) vehicle (yes, I was given a discount, but still my expectation was an SUV). The car was so smelly that my family took tours of who would go in the smelly car (we were traveling in 2 cars). I did not complain because of the refund I was given, but that suggests the car was not properly checked after the previous customer returned.

They don't take pictures before renting you the car. So it's very easy to blame the customer for any damage you don't notice. I did not notice a chip in the windscreen when I got the car. They charged me 500 pounds to replace it entirely. There is no way I wouldn't have noticed a stone hitting the windscreen big enough to cause that chip. I was told 3 technicians checked the car before I got it. I asked any proof that those checks were actually carried out, but didn't receive any response till now (Of course they already charged me 500 pounds, why they would bother!). The whole experience was a complete nightmare. Avoid it!
